The Xbox One Finally Gets a Release Date

xbox one

The announcement all Xbox fans have been waiting for has finally been made, the Xbox One will launch on the 22nd of November in 13 territories, including the US and Europe. Don’t be surprised that South Africa is not among the 13 countries; we all saw it coming. The 13 countries lucky enough to make the list are Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, UK, and USA. The official statement made by Yusuf Mehdi, corporate VP of marketing strategy and business, said the following:

We are humbled and gratified by the tremendous interest in Xbox One from game fans everywhere, We sold out of our pre-order supply faster than at any other time in our history and we are on path to have the biggest launch of an Xbox ever.

We’re going to keep bringing more value to the Xbox One as we head towards launch building on some of the advancements we have already shared such as the 40 plus improvements to the Xbox One controller, advancements to help you find the perfect opponent and make the most of our online community, to the power of the cloud,

November 22 is a special day in Xbox history – on this day, we first launched Xbox 360 in 2005. Our next chapter begins in 79 days, when Xbox One becomes available. We built Xbox One to bring you the best games, unrivaled multiplayer and more entertainment than ever before. It’s nearly time to say “Xbox On” and open a new world of games and entertainment.”

No news on when we can expect to see the Xbox One in South Africa, but it will most likely be next year.

Gaming runs through my veins, well that and ...erhm deoxygenated blood... I guess, but there is an equal gaming to oxygen ratio pumping through me. It keeps me going, its what I love, and I wish I was doing it right now.

AUSTRALIA?!? REALLY? WHY DO THEY GET IT BEFORE US, WHAT IS THIS I DON’T EVEN…

    • Zhameer

Yeah a country that banned SR4 and they be getting Xbox One before us? I do say this sounds really fishy :P

    • james

i can sense a new monday morning moan… on the otherhand there might be a kinekt free one before it gets to us, and a pricedrop

    • Rugen Nel

I think that Mexico can wait a bit… its a shitty country and the people who live there doesn’t really have the money…Microsoft will make way more money in South Africa

  • Zhameer

Awesome for those but not for us. But anyway bring on PS4 :)

  • Jarred

It’s a real pity we aren’t getting it here this year. It would have been great to see the console battle take place first hand. Guess it will still be interesting to see how it goes overseas. Sadly it does mean that my money will go straight to Sony.

  • V3rt3X

Way to hit the ball miss… Again… Microsoft… Now, I shall kindly say that off is the general direction I’d like you to @?#! to. Because I already saw from IGN that you bastards are pulling back part of the DRM.

  • V3rt3X

Oh and the fact they gave the XBox One’s CPU a minor performance boost from 1.6Ghz to 1.75Ghz. Why overclock a console? Are they deliberately trying to push the boundaries of a next-gen RROD?

    • David Kozlowski

Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice…I had 3 Xboxs RROD.

      • V3rt3X

I was going to take a 360 in March, then I remembered the RROD. Then I decided to take a PS3 and had the old cooling paste replaced with higher grade stuff to prevent my console giving me a YLOD, which is very unlikely since it’s a fatboy console with the massive airflow fan at the bottom. Can’t be too sure though.

Everyone will still wait 10 days overseas for PS4. Cause they know that ps4 is better. Always will be

  • David Kozlowski

In a way its good news, there is no way I could afford both systems, having Sony as the only option makes it a very easy choice. I do think South Africa will be a PS4 dominated country.

    • Garvin

It will be. like the PS2 was. But most people will wait until its cheaper before they buy it.

I want to know WTF New Zealand is doing there? We might as well put Zambia on that list.

    • David Kozlowski

Ya I know ! our Xbox sales must be more the double that of New Zealand ! it makes no sense at all.

      • Trevor

Yip yip our country would have leaped with sales as we always do when it comes to technological entertainment and consoles. Bad move…Microsoft. Anyway the PS4 rocks!

  • Ryan

    Not too worried

  • Marc

On an E3 article i thought I read somewhere that SA is a tier4 country(whatever that means) but it sounds like it will be a while before it launchers our shores.

  • MichaelB

I’d much rather get the PS4 than the Xbox One. Maybe just get both (eventually)?

  • http://www.nyaanime.co.za Zombia

Why was this showing up on the side ? O.o Old article is old xD

  • Sean Botha

The ANC insisted that the Xbox one kinect be available in ALL 11 Official languages hence the delay in arrival date.

  • Carl

I haven’t had a ps3 before and would so badly like to own one.
