EA has publicly come out in opposition to the Defense of Marriage Act which is a US federal law that defines marriage as something that only happens between one man and one woman. EA has joined forces with other businesses in the US in an effort to have the law declared unconstitutional by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
DOMA presents a number of problems for businesses like EA as it creates regulatory, tax, and discrimination complications for employers, and that’s why we’re standing against it. The underlying lawsuit impacts all employers no matter how big or small, and no matter the industry, and we encourage other business to join these efforts.”
EA has even gone so far as to interview its openly gay and lesbian employees and made a video that highlights the success of those employees in their personal and professional lives.
And here is Hillary Duff with a Public Service Announcement (and this is not to make light of a serious situation):
I am going to eat some Oreos now.
