It was only a question of when rather then if we see another redesign for the PS3. Now it seems the redesign is on the cards if Japanese site Pocket News can be believed.
It’s believed that Sony are planning a new slimmer model of the PlayStation 3 that will fall into the new 4000 series (we’re on 3000 now) and rumours suggest that we’ll see this announcement taking place at Gamescom next month. All that the below images show is the placement of the new FCC stickers and a comparison between the current slim PS3′s and the original fat PS3.
We’ll have to wait for Gamescom to see if there is any truth to the new slimmer console rumour. History seems to agree.

Borrowing a PS3 now, but if it releases at too good a price, might splurge on one myself.
I don’t think its necessary for a “slim slim” PS3, as I expect the next generation of consoles to come within 2 years. But if it does come out cheaper, I’m all for it.
I’ll stock to my slim 320 gig…..until hopefully that’ll be soon
