Nintendo owns part of Project Zero franchise – report

Project Zero Head

According to a report from horror website Rely on Horror Nintendo now co-owns the Project Zero/Fatal Frame IP. This might be very good news for fans of the series, especially considering that Project Zero 2: Wii Edition is set to release in Europe at the end of the month. Hopefully South Africa will see a launch of the title on the same 29 June release date.

Nintendo now fully owns the Spirit Camera spin-off IP as well as part of the Project Zero IP, according to the report, with full ownership and publishing rights for the currently pending remake. Great news if you’ve been looking at replaying Project Zero 2, not so awesome if you were waiting on a new PS3 or Xbox 360 version of Project Zero to be announced.  There is some potential for the game as a Wii U title however, with the Wii U’s controller perhaps playing the part of the in-game photography equipment?

Nothing has been confirmed for the Wii U from the ‘I need new pants’ series but, while we wait for an announcement of any sort, check out the trailer for the Project Zero remake that is due in a few days.

Spirit Camera is worth it on it’s own. The (inevitable) Wii U version will be awesome, I hope.

Still remember these games. Very freaky, but awesome in a sense.
