Criterion will retain the NFS franchise

NFS Head

EA will be handing control of the entire Need for Speed franchise (on the gaming front, the film won’t be their fault) following the launch of the Most Wanted reboot.

Speaking in a Game Informer interview Criterion vice president Alex Ward said:

Maybe it’s been that way in the past, but that’s changed this year with what we’re doing… Our stamp’s going to be in everything you see in Need for Speed and Burnout going forward in the future. It’s not going to be spread anymore across different companies. Different studios have had a crack at it – it’s definitely a Criterion gig now.”

It seems that Criterion will have control over which NFS titles are launched in future and in which order, whether they are in the Shift, Hot Pursuit, Most Wanted or Underground categories.

G3AR's Online Editor (Ninja Edition) and scourge of all the writers on the website. I spend almost as much time gaming as I do reading (that's saying something), so there is little time for sleep. Don't play MMOs because I'd never get anything done, ever.

That’s a sensible move since they did a brilliant job on NFS:HP. NFS:TR turned out to be such crap :(
I did’nt play the original Most Wanted, but I’d buy the new one seeing as the NFS:HP guys are behind it.
