“CryEngine 3 is next-gen ready since 3 years ago”

CryEngine 3 Head

Crytek’s founder Cevat Yeril did an interview recently in which he said that Crytek’s CryEngine 3 is just as capable as Epic’s Unreal Engine 4. Yeril pointed out that his company’s engine has been showing off GPU rendering, deferred shading and massive particle systems already and that previous versions of the engine have already been doing DX11 and tessellation.

It already exists for three years now. You can go back three years ago to the GDC videos. What we put out there is pretty much what Unreal Engine 4 put out now. And what many others are doing now too. We haven’t really put out our latest stuff yet.

We have already seen what the Unreal Engine 4 is capable of and now we will have to wait to see what Crytek’s CryEngine 3 is truly capable of.

A father, a gamer and a hardware madman. If it can be overclocked, watercooled or tweaked then I want it.

I like engine competition, Makes for better games for us. Tis a shame id tech 5 did not shine as much as it promised (even though the tech is pretty awesome)

Yip! Agreed Jarrod… The greater the competition is between companies to “have the most powerful engine”, the greater the games will become :D Sucks for the guys with useless graphics though… But i guess you win some and you lose some xD
