In case you haven’t heard yet, the Spider-Man movie franchise is getting a reboot with The Amazing Spider-Man releasing in just a few months. With the reboot of the movie comes the inevitable game based on the movie, only this time it isn’t. Beenox, who developed the previous two games (Shattered Dimensions and Edge of Time) are once again at the helm for the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man game.
Beenox announced that the game will take place after the events of the movie meaning that it is not a direct adaptation to the movie, an idea which should sit well with gamers who know all too well how bad movie to game releases usually land up being. The plot revolves around an Oscorp executive, and an ‘old friend’ accessing the research of Dr. Curt Connors to create more cross-species experiments. Something that will require intervention.
Some of the game’s features include:
SPIDER-MAN’S TRIUMPHANT RETURN TO NEW YORK
Everybody’s favorite web-head is back in Manhattan with the return of the fan-favorite, free-roaming, web-slinging Gameplay.
WEB RUSH: PLAYER CHOICE EVOLVED
Players use real-time navigational and combat choices to fight crime and pull off Spidey’s signature acrobatic moves like never before.
FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
Uncover the rest of Peter Parker’s untold story in the all-new epilogue story crafted by acclaimed Hollywood writer Seamus Kevin Fahey (Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica).
PUSH SPIDER-MAN’S ABILITIES TO THE LIMIT
Face-off against re-imaginings of classic Marvel Super Villains as well as original, larger than life enemies – some of the biggest ever seen in a Spider-Man video game – while racing to save Manhattan.
The Amazing Spider-Man is looking great so far and Spidey’s fans will be picking it up, but it is also looking to draw in new fans with a more ‘realistic’ approach to the character thanks to the set-up from the movie. Spider-Man games often disappoint, movie games disappoint even more often, but let’s all hope Beenox pull this one off.
The Amazing Spider-Man releases in June. Take a look at the trailers below:
