Bethesda announces The Elder Scrolls Online

Elder Scrolls Online

Bethesda announced yesterday that they would be bringing the world of The Elder Scrolls to an MMO setting. There were no details revealed about the game’s expected launch date but Game Informer magazine will have more details on the title in their upcoming June print issue before being featured in all sorts of magazines in the next few months.

The Elder Scrolls Online is an MMO and… that’s about all we know at this point. It is being developed for both PC and Mac under the supervision of Matt Firor.

Firor said:

We have been working hard to create an online world in which players will be able to experience the epic Elder Scrolls universe with their friends, something fans have long said they wanted. It will be extremely rewarding finally to unveil what we have been developing the last several years. The entire team is committed to creating the best MMO ever made – and one that is worthy of The Elder Scrolls franchise”

Whether an Elder Scrolls MMO is such a great idea is subject to debate. Fans have expressed concern about the next title in the series moving from being a massive single-player adventure to a multiplayer experience but until more details are revealed it would be a bit silly to judge the game based solely on its genre.

G3AR's Online Editor (Ninja Edition) and scourge of all the writers on the website. I spend almost as much time gaming as I do reading (that's saying something), so there is little time for sleep. Don't play MMOs because I'd never get anything done, ever.

This could be fun, glad it’s for PC & Mac, the textures might just be better than Skyrim…

Imagine all the bugs this will generate, can’t wait!

This time round, I suspect less bugs….

Hopefully there’s more content than SWTOR…

If you look at how much content they jammed into Skyrim, that is very likely. I’m just worried that they screw up my single-player wanderings by never making another SP sequel.

I hope they don’t forget that Skyrim was one of the best-selling “SINGLE PLAYER” games EVER….

I just wish the next instalment isn’t as buggy…jeez
