Samsung Windows Phone 8 device to use Galaxy S 3 hardware

Win Phone 8 Apollo

Samsung might be planning to launch Windows Phone 8 on a device which will be based on the same hardware that will be found in the Galaxy S 3. This information has been revealed by Michael Blake of Windows Phone Life who received an email from a trusted source. Apparently the phone will be named the Samsung Focus II and will not only use the same hardware as the Galaxy S3 but will also feature a similar design.

According to the rumour the Focus II will have a 4.7-inch HD screen, 12 megapixel rear camera, 2 megapixel front camera, dual core processor, dedicated camera button, NFC and LTE support. The three button design of the Windows 8 devices and the Android 4.0 devices could see ROM cookers and developers porting OSes from one device to the next. A Samsung Galaxy S3 running Android 4.0 and Windows Phone 8 would be a very attractive offer to those not afraid to get their hands dirty with boot loaders.

A father, a gamer and a hardware madman. If it can be overclocked, watercooled or tweaked then I want it.

Dual core proc? That goes against the quad core cpu for the S3?

The quad-core CPU for the S3 was only rumored…Those same rumors have changed since to sport a highly clocked dual-core CPU. Final specs can only be rumored until the announcement of the S3…Still, I’d love to get my hands on a Windows Phone 8 device with similar specs :)

All rumours I have seen point to the Exynos 4 proc and knowing Sammy most likely it will be true. Especially with the THC one X running quad.
