New Super Mario Bros. 2 – What We Know

New Super Mario Bros. 2 (NSMB2) was recently announced and has Nintendo fans in a frenzy. So why not take a look at what we know about this title?

NSMB2 will be a side-scrolling platform game for the Nintendo 3DS and is set to be released worldwide some time in August this year. It will be the third instalment in the New Super Mario Bros. series, preceded by New Super Mario Bros. for the DS and New Super Mario Bros. Wii for the Wii.

From what we can see at this stage the game seems to be heavily based on the NES classic Super Mario Bros. 3 as the Tanooki Suit and POW blocks have been spotted in early screenshots. The current screens show climbable spider webs, golden enemies as well as a golden Mario in a castle level.

There will be without a doubt more information available as E3 2012 approaches. As soon as we know about any new developments, so will you.
