Team Kata breaks Unigine Heaven – Xtreme record

Radeon HD 7900

Overclockers Team Katana Japan has broken theUnigine Heaven – Xtreme Preset (DX11) record and set a new record of X3757.69 points. The score was set with a volt-modded Radeon HD 7970 which was pushed to 1.747GHz on the core and 1.971GHz on the memory (an effective memory speed of 7.884GHz). To deliver these speeds the core voltage was raised to 1.895V. The card was cooled using liquid nitrogen. The volt-mod was needed to override the Over-Current Protection and over-heat protection of the cards VRM.

The system used a Core i7-2600K processor running at 5GHz on an Asus Maximus IV Extreme motherboard and used a 1200W PSU. The GPU had a load temperature of -137°C. The benchmark result earned the team first place for HWBOT “Global 1x GPU Rank” and also for the “Radeon HD 7970 rank.”

A father, a gamer and a hardware madman. If it can be overclocked, watercooled or tweaked then I want it.
