Sony staff cut looms

Sony Job Loss G3AR

It has recently come to light that Sony are planning on cutting their global workforce by about 10 000 jobs. To put that in perspective, that’s about six percent of their staff.

Sony spokes person, Yoko Yasukouchi, has yet to confirm the rumours; however new CEO Kazuo Hirai is expected to hold a press conference this coming Thursday where more light is expected to be shed on the reports.

Earlier this year Sony reported a 159 billion yen ($2.1 billion) loss for the October-December quarter. Sony hasn’t yet confirmed the news but will likely go into more detail at the press conference on Thursday.

Just shows that not everyone is immune to these tough economic times.
