Rovio, the developer of Angry Birds, has acquired Futuremark Game Studios, the studio at Futuremark that focuses on developing games like The Shattered Horizon. Although Rovio has acquired Futuremark Game Studios Futuremark will retain the The Shattered Horizon, Hungribles and Unstoppable Gorg IPs.
“They are an incredibly talented and experienced team, and we are thrilled to have them on board. Rovio’s success is founded on the excellence of our team, and Futuremark Games Studio is going to be a superb addition,” said Mikael Hed, Rovio Entertainment’s CEO.
Futuremark Game Studios is the second acquisition that Rovio has made in the last year and follows in the wake of Angry Birds Space hitting 10 million downloads in three days. Last year the Angry Birds developer was valued at over $1 billion.
