The rumours about a 7-inch iPad have been doing the rounds for some time now but until now no one has confirmed it. Samsung , which sells parts to Apple including the retina display screen for the new iPad, has confirmed that there will be a 7.85-inch iPad. According to the Korean Times an unnamed Samsung executive has revealed that Apple placed an order for displays for the new iPad to the tune of $9.7 billion (R77.6 billion).
The Samsung executive also confirmed that Apple will be using Samsung’s SSDs in its MacBook Air notebooks. According to the Korean Times the smaller iPad will use a PLS-based LCD and that Apple has expressed an interest in OLED displays and wants to use the screens on its iOS devices but is concerned that Samsung will not be able to deliver the required number of screens.
