The Old Republic nearing 2 million subscribers

Old Republic Head

Electronic Arts has confirmed that BioWare’s new Star Wars MMO is edging closer to the 2 million subscribers mark as of the end of February. EA CEO John Riccitiello, speaking to investors, said that The Old Republic has almost 1.7 million subscribers and claimed that most of these have moved out of the ‘first month free’ period and onto paid subs.

A Cowen and Company analyst has been quoted as saying that the MMO is expected to breach 2 million paid players by the end of June 2012.

The Old Republic will be getting its second update, complete with extra content, in April.

G3AR's Online Editor (Ninja Edition) and scourge of all the writers on the website. I spend almost as much time gaming as I do reading (that's saying something), so there is little time for sleep. Don't play MMOs because I'd never get anything done, ever.

I’m sure that number of subscribers will keep growing.
