AMD will be releasing two additions to their FX processor line-up; the hexa-core FX-6200 and quad-core FX-4170. Both processors have a TDP of 125W and 8MB of L3 cache each. The FX-6200 has a base clock speed of 3.8GHz and will ramp up its clock speed to 4.1GHz when in Turbo mode. The FX-4170 has a native clock speed of 4.2GHz with a Turbo of 4.3GHz.
The FX-6200 carries a pre-order price of €152.70 (R1,500) and the FX-4170 can be pre-ordered for €120.60 (R1,200). With the launch of these two new processors AMD is dropping the price of the FX-8120 and FX-6100 processors. The FX-8120 currently goes for $205 in the States and will drop to $185 while the FX-6100 goes for $155 and will drop to $145. In South Africa those processors go for R2,350 and R1,850 respectively so if prices do drop locally they will probably be about R200 less for the FX-8120 and R100 less for the FX-6100.
