AMD Radeon HD 7700 series cards launched

HD 7700 series cards

AMD has officially launched its “Cape Verde” based Radeon HD 7700 graphics cards. The Cape Verde GPU uses a 28nm fabrication process and uses AMD’s Graphics CoreNext architecture. The HD 7770 has 10 GCN units with a full complement of 640 stream processors, 40 Texture Mapping Units and 16 ROPs. The core clock speed for the HD 7770 is 1GHz with an 1125MHz (4.5GHz effective) memory clock speed which delivers 72GB/s memory bandwidth.

The HD 7750 has only 512 stream processors, 32 Texture Mapping Units and 16 ROPs. The HD 7750’s core clock speed is 800MHz but it has the same memory clock speed as the HD 7770. Both cards have 1GB of GDDR5 with a 128-bit memory interface. The HD 7770 requires a single 6-pin power connector but the HD 7750 requires no external power.
