iCloud banned in Germany

icloud iphone

Motorola has successfully gotten a permanent injunction to have Apple’s iCloud, iPads and iPhones banned from sale in Germany. The injunction prohibits the use of the iCloud service as well as any device that uses it. The injunction was awarded after Motorola filed a complaint with the courts in April 2011 regarding some of the methods employed by Apple’s iCloud syncing.

The iPad 3G, iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS has been removed by Apple from its online store due to a violation of a GPRS patent held by Motorola. The patent violation doesn’t affect iPad 2 and iPhone 4S devices because they use different chipsets which do not violate the patent rights.
