We’re in two minds about this one but it seems that martial arts motion picture Ong-Bak will be getting a video game made by Studio HIVE, a development team that is based in Thailand. Getting to control Tony Jaa (or his in-game equivalent) in an action title sounds immensely cool but there is the curse of the licensed title to worry about…

It’s a great honour for our team to work on the very first Ong-Bak multiplatform game. As a Thai development studio we love the movie and have a deep understanding of the Ong-Bak brand values and we make sure that the videogame will be an inspiring martial arts action experience for gamers.”
The title is being developed with the assistance of Sahamongkol Film International (the folks who made the movie) so there are possibilities there. Available platforms have yet to be announced but it will probably be created for Xbox 360 and PS3. The game is expected to release this year. Please be awesome. Please?

You never know with Thai games. Sometimes they hit the spot but,, more often than not, they’re a direct rip-off of an American game but a lot worse.
Will be interesting to see how well they do with this one though. Ong-Bak (the first one) was a great film.
