Bethesda’s Skyrim is officially the first Western-created title to get a perfect 40/40 score from Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu. Other titles have come close to perfection in the past, some getting as close as 39/40, but Skyrim is the first to crack the Japanese nod.
For those who are unfamiliar with how Famitsu does reviews, four separate reviewers are given a copy of the game and each returns a score out of ten. These totals are simply added together for a score out of 40. Skyrim is the 17th title and the first Western game to get four 10/10 ratings from Famitsu reviewers.
It joins Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Final Fantasy XII on Famitsu’s highest-ranked list.
