Sony launching HMZ-T1 3D headset in November

Sony plans on launching a 3D headset in Japan on 11 November this year. The unit, called the HMZ-T1, will let viewers watch 2D or 3D HD content on a screen that simulates a 750 inch display as seen from a 20 metre distance.

The Head Mounted Display was first presented at CES 2011 and has undergone some slight visual changes. The hardware as remained unchanged according to reports and the the HMZ-T1 will feature two 0.7 inch OLED panels that use a resolution of 1280×720. It will also contain 5.1 surround sound headphones.

The HMZ-T1 is expected to retail for ¥60 000 (about R5 520 in local currency). There are no confirmed plans to release the unit outside of Japan at this time.
